I bought a 2004 MXZ Renegade 600 SDI about a month ago and after the first checkup at 400 miles, my compression was at 140 for both cylinders. I?ve got a 05 600 SDI with E-start and the battery is not charging while riding. The Battery is a new Yuasa and I installed a new voltage regulator. Also, I checked the resistance and the AC output of the stator using the method in described in the service manual and the stator appears to be fine; however it is a rebuilt unit from RM Stator.

Hey Scott, I recall pinching two lines on the lower, back-side of the case when leak checking the old 600 SDI motors. One was the impulse line and the other went to a vacuum / solenoid that controlled the RAV valves, which the solenoid was mounted near the throttle bodies.
While I know its basically the end of the season, we loved our 2004 Renegade so much we had to get another REV and sold our old Polaris so we ended up buying a 2005 GTX 600 SDI. I was wondering if anyone has owned this sled and has any reccommendations for tips or tricks to avoid problems with this sled.

I call BS ski-doo states that SDI must have a charged battery. I did a carb to SDI swap and it must have a strong 12v to start. If the battery was junk you wouldn't get that, I was missing the capacitor on my swap and the sled wouldn't start on just the small non e-start battery. I added the required cap and starts the first time every time.
10- Once it at operating temp. Hit the RER (reverse) button. It should should almost stall, but keeping going only in reverse (will be beeping). If if fails this repeatedly it's a sign of low compression. 11- start sled and watch the gauges for all teh warning lights. As it starts they all go through test.
